Stephen Keith Kreutzfeld passed away peacefully early April 7, 2010 at St Vincent Hospice, after a brief bout with cancer. He joins his beloved Patricia (Belle) Packer Kreutzfeld (2006) to share eternal life together.Steve was born in Toledo, OH, son of Peter Christian Kreutzfeld and Jean Mahon Kreutzfeld. He grew up in suburban Chicago, IL and attended Lyons Township HS in LaGrange IL. He served in the pacific theater with the US Navy in World War II sailing from San Diego, CA. He graduated college with a BS in civil engineering from General Motors Institute, Flint, Michigan.Three children survive, Kathy Johnson of Indianapolis, Stephen Kreutzfeld Blake, (Marilyn), both of Plainfield, IL, and Carolyn Garlock of Indianapolis. Survived by six grandchildren Andy Johnson (Amy) both of West Des Moines, IA, Jamie (Cheryl) Johnson of Indianapolis, Patrick Garlock of Bloomington, Reid Garlock of Greencastle, Robert Laverty of San Diego, and Jay Kreutzfeld Blake of Plainfield, IL. Survived by 3 great grandchildren Ayden, Audrey, and Aaron Johnson all of West Des Moines, IA. A vast network of friends and business associates also survives him.Steve was a passionate veteran who loved his country, a great family man, outstanding businessman, community and church volunteer. He worked with ElectroMotive in Chicago and General Motors in Baltimore before adopting Indianapolis as his home in 1957. He worked for over 30 years in the cutting tool industry for Jack Dustman and Assoc. traveling the Midwest. He was a life member of the Optimist Club, volunteered at the Etlejorg Museum and St Paul’s Episcopal Church. Up until his death he was an active member of the Service Club of Indianapolis. Celebration of Life, Friday April 16th, Riveria Swim Club 3-5pm.
